December is a fun month to work with the children. Their excitement over the Christmas celebration is infectious. We have designed unique activities for our learning centers that promote a wide variety of skills development. Below includes a brief description of our unit plan for the month of December.

Segmenting. We will be using the vocabulary developed from the various cultural holidays to practice segmenting words into syllables.
Social Studies
Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanza, “Las Posadas” and Christmas.
Math
Represent, visualize and break up numbers 1 to 10 (Power of Ten), patterns, sizes, and geometrical shape
Fine Motor Skills:
Tracing on light table using stencils, pencil drawing, modeling, folding and cutting paper, and coloring with a variety of materials.
Social Skills:
Values: friendship, peace, hope and joy. “It is better to give than to receive”. Promoting kindness, giving and sharing within the spirit of the holidays.
Spanish Culture
Songs, carols, poems, rhymes and story books about winter holiday in Latin America and Spain.

Swimming lessons:
Swimming Lessons will take place from November 14th to 18th for our Kindergarten Studnets. The schedule for each class is as follows;
9:30 to 10:00 - Señorita Jordan AM class
10:00-10:30 - Señora Wilkinson AM class
10:30-11:00 - Doña Maria AM class
1:30-2:00 - Señorita Jordan's PM class
2:00-2:30 - Señora Wilkinson's PM class
Each teacher will be needing at least 2 volunteers every day in both the morning and afternoon to provide support when arriving and leaving the pool. No parents are required to get in the water with the children. Id you are able to volunteer any of your time it would be very much appreciated. Please note that you must have a valid Police Clearance in order to be able to volunteer with your child's class.
